List Building

List Building Tips

What does list building have to do with getting website traffic, Well if you build a list of people that are interested in your product or niche then whenever you add an up date or new product  just send them an email and they will come back to your website. Instant traffic.

Now since you are looking into list building I’m going to assume that you have a product or niche that you wish to prompt to your own list. A list that will keep growing for you and buying from you. I’m sure you have heard the saying “The money in is the list” will its not. It’s in how you use your list. A list of 10 000 free loaders will not make you any money but a list of 100 buyers will provide some very nice pocket money.
So how do you get started building your list?
Do you have an auto-responder already to go?
No Then you had better check out  Auto-responders
Yes Great, Lets move on.

Do you have a Domain name? And is it hosted?
No Then you had better check out Domains

Yes Great, Lets move on.
You have now built the foundation to build your list on. You have a Product or Idea. You have an autoresponder that will automatically email your list every few days with your words of wisdom and you have an awesome domain name that is hosted and alive on the World Wide Web.

Great, now we can get started building a squeeze page other wise known as an opt-in page. What’s this got to do with list building? Well people have to have some where to join your list. Right?
This pages only job is to get people to enter their name and email address in order to receive what ever it is you have to offer. Be it more information or a free e-book on your topic. Be Honest, its just a big bribe so they join your list.

Have a look around the Internet at landing pages on your topic and borrow ideas from them for your landing page.
A few basic rules to follow.
•    Keep the page white or a light colour.
•    Keep the text black or a dark colour.
•    Make your Headline Red.
•    Use the same font for all the text.
•    No ads or other detractions.
•    Make it crystal clear what you what them to do.
•    Have a call to action. Tell them what to do.

Now for a bit more detail.

You have to have a good reason for someone to opt in to your auto-responder. Give them a taste of what’s to come. Offer something of value or make them curious.
Ask them a question and offer the answer on the next page, after they opt in.

You are not offering a free XYZ or Newsletter, you are offering a solution to their problem. Do not list the features but list the benefits of XYZ so they look forward to more communication from you. Make it compelling, give them a reason to sign up. Make it so they want to sign up.

How do I do all this when I don’t know how, you ask?

Easy. As I said on page one, borrow ideas from the experts, Make a swipe file. It’s a folder with all the websites that  got your attention in it. They worked didn’t they? Don’t copy them word for word but borrow the lay out, the way the page is set up, use your own words in the Headline and text but follow the style.

Like listing the benefits as bullet points.

Add your opt in box to the page some were above the fold. The fold is the term for the invisible line across the bottom of the page before you have to scroll down. You get your opt in box coding from your autoresponder. The autoresponder site will tell you how to do this.

This is important. You have about 8 seconds before the person viewing your page will click away forever. So make those 8 seconds count. Your page must load fast, that means no large graphic files.       A picture works wonders on a landing page, a smiling face is great but keep the file small. If they have to wait for the page to load, they’re gone. If you’re using video, the same rule applies. It needs to start playing right away. Not sit there loading because once again they’re gone.

I will not go into adding video here or adding pictures because that’s all the HTML stuff you will need to learn. There are lots of good sites and books that will teach you what you need to know.

to make my landing pages because its easy to use and free but you can use whatever program you like.

Here is a very sneaky tip for you. Find your favorite landing page, Click on “view”, then “page source”, this will bring up the HTML code for the page, copy it into your HTML editor and use it as a template for your landing page. Now there are copy right laws that you to have to worry about. So make sure you remove all coding that refer to other sites or people. And rewrite all the text. So you are just borrowing the bones of the landing page. I have no idea how legal this is so it is up to you if you wish to use this tip.

You now have a landing page with a bold red headline and winning text that lists the benefits of your amazing product  that people are going to sign up to your list for,  just to get their hands on it. Right? Good.

So to sum this all up

You need a product to sell, an auto-responder to sell it automatically to your growing list, A domain name for your landing page that is hosted on the web, and a landing page for people to opt in too. Right?
Now that you have done all that you need traffic to your landing page. I will not go into that here but I will show you an awesome landing page that will take you to a system that will supply you with landing pages that convert people into money.
